For my birthday and belated engagement celebrations me and my best friend booked a fun-filled day out in London. We have always wanted to experience the luxury of the Ritz and so had promised that the first person to get engaged or reach a big birthday would be our reason to go for afternoon tea so as soon as I was engaged, we looked to arrange this but they were completely fully booked for months (hence the belated engagement). Although it was a long wait it certainly did not disappoint. The service is second to none, you cannot fault it. Our waiter was at our table topping up our tea and sandwiches before we even thought to ask. I loved the fact we had bottomless sandwiches and could keep asking for more as they were delicious! We enjoyed multiple sandwiches of different varieties, scones with clotted cream and jam, a selection of cakes, different flavoured teas and even a birthday cake with a candle for me (which was so tasty). After we finished our afternoon tea (and photoshoot in the boujee ladies room) we switched the heels for flats and took a stroll down to our next stop.
The Mound, Marble Arch is a unique and quirky free attraction. It doesn't take too long to do - I'd say 45 minutes from start to finish but we enjoyed it and it was really cool to see. You start by climbing the stairs to the top of the mound where you get some amazing views over London. Once you have finished admiring the view you take the stairs to descend inside the mound where you reach a really cool light exhibition. They have cleverly used angled mirrors and LED lights to create infinity lighting displays that are so interesting and mind boggling to look at. It's not massive inside but there are quite a few displays to have a look at in 3 small sections of the exhibition.
From here we took a slow stroll down oxford street, having a mooch in the shops and a coffee stop before heading towards Covent garden. We found a cute Parisian cafe called Laduree where you could sit in the courtyard overlooking Covent garden, watching the world go by. We ordered some wine and French onion soup here which was full of flavour and the perfect light bite after a big lunch.
Our final stop for the day was the Savoy theatre to watch Pretty Woman: The Musical. This show was amazing! They converted the film into a show so well and it was so easy to recognise memorable scenes from the movie. It was light hearted, funny and the touch of singing and dancing really added to the story and I loved every minute. If you love the Film you have to see this!
The next day I headed back up to London in the evening for a double date and joint birthday celebration with my other best friend. We had booked to go to dinner at Hutong in the Shard. Lee drove us there so we pulled up straight out of the front of the shard where they do a parking service starting at £20. The views from the shard are amazing and it certainly is an experience. if you have never been I would recommend it. The food is really tasty and there is a great atmosphere in the resturant. We got loads of bits of food to share so we could try a bit of everything and it was such a nice evening out.
