A weekend at Alton Towers

We had such a fun day at Alton Towers this weekend 🎢

This was my Christmas present from Lee as I had always wanted to go but never been due to it being quite far from us (around 3hrs 15mins drive).

We picked a good day as the park wasn’t too busy so we got to go on all of the big rides that we wanted to go on - Thirteen, Smiler, Oblivion, Galactica, Rita (although we did cheat and buy an £8 fast pass for this one), Wicker man and Nemesis. We absolutely loved Thirteen as we were not expecting what was to come! Definitely a ride to experience! My favourites had to be Thirteen, Smiler and Nemesis.

10.9 miles later and we had well and truely worn ourselves out from all that walking around ! The park is HUGE with lots of beautiful grounds to see!

After we had finished in the park for the day, we walked back through the car park to the Resort where we had booked the stargazing pods to stay in. They were really cosy and you could actually see the stars out of the windows whilst laying in bed although the term stargazing pods is a little misleading as we thought they’d have a glass roof to look up to the stars but instead it was just a little window next to the bed. The beds weren’t the comfiest as they were quite hard but for camping were much better than the floor in a tent. It definitely is more like a glamping experience! We had live music in the tepee in the evening, went to the restaurant the crooked spoon for dinner (this was pretty expensive for what it was and wasn’t that nice) and then tucked in for the night after a long day in the park. We were lucky as our pod was located right next to the teepees and a short walk to the toilets and showers. Remember to take a towel or you have to buy them but it’s only £10 for 4 towels. The showers aren’t the nicest but the water’s hot and you can get clean so it’s got everything you need! In the morning you can a cup of tea/coffee and a sausage or bacon roll which was really nice to wake up to! 🏕

The pods were a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cheaper alternative to the hotel at Alton towers as it’s a very long way from Essex to go there and back in a day.
