A stay at Ettington Park Hotel

On 30th December 2018 Lee and I travelled two and a half hours to Stratford-upon-Avon for Jodie & Martyn’s wedding (friends we made whilst on holiday in Jamaica and kept in touch with).

The 19th Century Manor House, Ettington Park Hall, was elegant and beautiful with lots of character throughout.

There were lots of different rooms to explore each with its own unique feel. The ceremony took place in the library which was very intimate with lovely views of the gardens. We had a drinks reception in the great drawing room, which was high class and stunning with a lovely Christmassy feel, before heading upstairs to the long gallery for the wedding breakfast and evening reception. The food was cooked to perfection and the service brilliant. So much thought and effort had gone into planning the day and it really showed!

After the evening reception finished we headed back to our room to stay for the evening. Ettington Park hotel is meant to be one of the most haunted venues in the uk (the film ‘the haunting’ was also filmed on these grounds) but don’t worry this was no ‘Hill House’ for us. Maybe we were the lucky ones but we saw no ‘old woman in Victorian clothing walking along the conservatory entrance’ or ‘the ghost of a man and his beloved dog wandering in the library and vanishing quickly’ heard no footsteps pacing at night and saw nothing floating...

There was definitely nothing in our room anyway and we slept like babies and the beds are very comfortable I must say!
