For the August bank holiday weekend we decided to spend the weekend down at Goodwood horse racing. As we wanted to do two days at the racing and make the most of the bank holiday we found a local cottage to stay in - 2 Grooms Yard, Singleton. The cottage was well looked after and had a lovely country feel to it. The decoration was beautiful and the homeowner who we rented the cottage off of was lovely and stayed for a chat with us. She even offered to drop us down to the race course and pick us up which was a bonus!
I found the bed comfy, the cottage super clean and the rooms were nice and cosy with blankets provided to snuggle into.
If anyone fancies a nice little get away I would recommend this cottage without a shadow of doubt. The race course was well organised with a nice little picnic area and tables to sit at in the family enclosure. This was the perfect position to see the racing. Food and Drinks are pricey in the races but as expected. If you go into the family enclosure you can also take your own food and drink in with you (just no glass I believe).
The second day we went it poured with rain but there were lots of areas under shelter where you could stand or sit to watch the races and keep dry. The seating area was outside though so a coat or warm clothes were needed as it wasn’t the warmest of days. We had a really fun day despite the weather and even had a few winners so we weren’t complaining!
